Responsibilities

· Under general supervision, provide high-level technical support and systems analysis for open computing platforms (e.g. AIX/UNIX, OS/400, NT operating systems on IBM RS/6000, AS/400, DEC, and Intel hardware).
· Perform routine maintenance on operating system software by applying supplied patches, updates and fixes.
· Evaluate, analyze and make recommendations on methods and products to optimize and more effectively utilize available computer resources.
· Conduct performance monitoring, take appropriate tuning actions and report results to management for responsible platforms.
· Perform capacity monitoring, planning and reporting to management for responsible platforms.

Education and Licensure

· Experience or education equivalent to a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science is required. (Candidates without a Bachelor Degree must possess 3-5 years of related experience to be considered for the position.)

Experience

· Minimum of one year of experience in an open systems environment as a high-level technical resource required.
· Two or more years of experience in an open systems environment as a high-level technical resource preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Solid analytical skills and detail orientation.
· Effective task management and organizational skills.
· Strong reading, communication (verbal and written), as well as presentation and adult teaching skills.
· Good interpersonal skills and the proven ability to function effectively under pressure.
· Demonstrated ability to type at least 26-50 wpm.
