Responsible for guiding and assisting with technical decisions for several teams of software developers. Works closely with Development Team Leads on application design, development, and delivery of custom-made products. Additional responsibilities include serving as technical mentor to the group, recommending good technical practices, and providing guidance on architecture for the product groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, related discipline or equivalent related job experience with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in software development.

2. Minimum of two (2) years experience as technical lead or product architect.

3. Experience leading team of five (5) or more developers.

4. Experience in Windows development, Client/Server database development, SQL, knowledge of QA processes, and modern development tools required.

5. Experience in Object oriented programming, principals, and methodologies.

6. Experience in all phases of the software lifecycle, successful production of software from start to finish, and large-scale projects with several Development/QA staff required.

7. Experience with Microsoft tools, MS SQL Server, source control tools, defect tracking tools, build processes, Web-based technologies, distributed computing technologies (CORBA, DCOM, Message-based systems) preferred.

8. Commitment to keeping abreast of technology and sharing that knowledge with others.

9. Experience with healthcare information systems preferred.

10. Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work well within a team and project environment.

11. Ability to work under pressure on a number of different projects simultaneously.

12. Demonstrates ability to make decisions and judgments; attentive to details and assumes accountability for consequences of actions taken.

JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE
1. Assesses and makes technical recommendations for projects to achieve desired results for the business units. This includes continually re-assessing techniques and processes to ensure the group builds the best quality product available in the most efficient way.

2. Lead project design reviews and regular code reviews to ensure development creates the best possible design within the time constraints of the project.

3. Assist in the creation or modification of existing processes to produce accurate design, good quality, and proper development documentation.

4. Evaluates and recommends development information systems to help build the proper infrastructure that would produce proper design diagrams, prototypes, and object models.

5. Makes recommendations concerning systems and programs which will make application development less complex and more efficient. This includes build systems, debugging tools, release tools, and other development-specific tools.

6. Achieves results, meets deadlines, and adjusts to quickly changing priorities in a fast paced development environment. Requires effective time management and organizational skills, and a thorough approach to problem solving.

7. Keeps up-to-date on the latest in software trends and development tools, and is a technical mentor to the group providing solutions and direction for high-level technical problems.

8. Performs other duties as assigned to include work on special projects.
