Our client, a publicly traded leader in Wireless Data Communication Solutions, has engaged us to assist them with their Software Architect - Applications position located in Calgary, AB.

Summary Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is the design, development and implementation of software, written in Java and C++, in a multi-threaded UNIX environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with product management/marketing and service delivery to conduct thorough product requirements analysis
• Assist project management in scoping and provide support to ensure the successful of deliveries and projects
• Lead the design and implementation effort of telematics and mobile applications
• Provide technical expertise to peer developers and support to quality and customer service teams
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to off-shore engineering team in India as well as local development team
Experience & Other Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in embedded system development
• Experience and proficient in system development on mobile devices (BREW, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux Mobile etc) and/or POSIX compliant embedded RTOS.
• Solid C/C++ programming skills, experience with J2ME as well is also desirable
• Familiar with SDLC and development environments (cross compilers, source control and debugging tools)
• Good understanding and knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP in connected limited device environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the abilities in presenting technical concepts and ideas
• Experience or familiarity with Agile and Test Driven Development is a plus
• Working experience with open source codes is a plus
• BSCS/EE degree or higher
• Preference will be given to candidates with a Preference will be given to candidates with a background with: Java, C++, Web service, WebLogic, WebSphere, Test Automation and Oracle
