Graphic Artist / Usability Designer (this manager wants both -- I have run into people either one or the other but I know there are some folks about there that do both)
This is a great consulting opportunity for a creative and innovative individual that functions extremely well as both a Graphics Artist and Usability Designer. The candidate must have the ability to interact effectively with project managers and business users, and the passion for creating high quality designs and products. As a member of the Business Intelligence Technical Solutions Group (BITS), they will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with other very bright individuals working on new and exciting projects. They will work in a supportive environment that encourages every team member to share their ideas, thoughts and cultivate their creative abilities. This is a highly visibility position requiring interaction with all levels of management and supporting both the business and technology groups.
Required Skills:
The candidate must have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They must be able to function independently throughout the lifecycle of a project and also a strong A team player and flexible to adapt as the projects evolve. Candidates must be prepared to present there existing portfolio, illustrations and websites.
Technical skills and Responsibilities:
Excellent communication skills a must
Extensive knowledge of usability methodologies/tools including user profiles, user scenarios, navigation flow charts, organizational models, storyboards, wireframes, mockups, feature lists, functional requirements and user interface specifications
In-depth knowledge of user experience disciplines: usability, user centric design processes and data analysis
Must be able to create the 'look and feel' that drives a successful website
Background in graphics design or art for the web
Design or create graphics that best reflect a given project, such as displays, icons, borders, water marks, navigation, images, etc.
Expert in using Adobe Photoshop or equivalent
Knowledgeable in color theory and ability to apply color recommendations based on project requirements
Proficient in using and creating elaborate Power Point Presentations
Proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and MS Visio a plus
Responsible, in conjunction with Project Manager and Business Analyst, for the overall product deliverable
Must be detail-oriented with abilities to multi-task and to effectively handle changing requirements and priorities
Full life cycle methodology including change management processes and ensuring changes are properly tested and migrated to production
Liaison between business users and technical staff throughout project lifecycle
Experienced in leading assessments of current business processes/requirements
Develop detailed functional requirement and design documents for web based and reporting solutions
Work with project team to document, design and create innovative solutions
Must be familiar with technology concepts and terminology
Support User Acceptance Testing
Ability to work independently with limited supervision or as part of a team
Professional, energetic and self-motivated with a well defined work ethic
Occasional overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines
Bachelors degree or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years progressive experience as a Graphic Artist. Additional training or advanced degree in interface design, information design, interaction design, graphical art or illustrations preferred
