Our client is seeking a Manager, Applications and Development to join its team. The Manager, Applications and Development works closely with business unit leaders to identify and create business automation solutions. He/she will help business leaders identify process improvement opportunities, support the development of business cases for each opportunity, find technology solutions, and manage the implementation of these solutions in a production environment.
The Manager, Applications and Development is responsible for a comprehensive approach to implementation of related business systems with emphasis on delivering competitive advantage, betterment of patient / client care, customer service, improved efficiency, improved quality and optimal use of resources.
The incumbent is also responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Applications and Development staff and all activities performed in Applications and Development area of Information Systems. This includes working on agreed priorities following through all stages of the SDLC. You will manage the Applications and Development Group time / project management techniques / tools to emphasize proactive planning and monitoring of assignments through to successful completion with win/win results for both the customer as well as information system.
The Manager, Applications and Development will interact with the Information Systems Steering Committee to gain approval for new projects, set priorities for the project portfolio and report on the progress of each project.
Requirements & Qualifications:
As a strong candidate for this profile, you have completed a post-secondary Diploma and/or Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance and/or Management Information Systems followed by 10 or more years of related work experience. Professional certification in project management and/or business analysis is an advantage.
You will have proven experience with business and technical needs analysis, business process modeling / mapping, methodology development, and data modeling; you will also have an excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
As a strong candidate you will have demonstrated ability to help business users translate their requirements into well defined, detailed system specifications (either for system acquisition or internal development). You will have a demonstrated ability to help business users create business cases and Return on Investment (ROI) for automation initiatives. You will have excellent project management skills and project management software skills, including Microsoft Project; experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products are required.
The Manager, Applications and Development will also have proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and applications systems. You will also possess:
? the ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both a technical and user-friendly language;
? the ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required;
? a firm working technical knowledge of industry standard programming languages.
Candidates must additionally possess a working knowledge of industry standard network and PC operating systems and platforms along with an in-depth knowledge of Canadian, Ontario and United States data privacy practices and laws. Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures is equally a must.
