System Robustness & Failure Modes:

Assist in Developing Noise Matrix.

Develop and implement a complete test methodology and test framework that complements system level measurements and hardware integration.

Develop and implement overstress methods to find failure modes before the customer sees the product.

Design of experiments (DOE) - screening, parameter, optimization.

Subsystem Robustness, Failure Modes & Test Design & Consultancy:

Work with subsystem teams to align subsystem test methodology and test framework with subsystem measurements.

Work with the subsystem teams to align subsystem test methodology to quickly find subsystem failure modes before the customer sees the product.

Design of experiments (DOE) - screening, parameter, optimization Measurement System Design and Gage R&R (GR&R) - system and subsystem level.

Assess your measurement system - how much error is in your measurement system? How much should it be relative to your working tolerance?

Develop and implement measurements at the system and subsystem levels.

Process Capability and Stability i.e. control charts etc:

Ensure that any customer gets a printer that operates like every other printer.

Ensure that any customer gets a printer that operates the same way every day for some period of years.

Statistical analysis:

B vs. C comparison tests, t-tests, data analysis, and growth curves, Weibull analysis, etc.

Root Cause Analysis:

Use experimental test techniques to find the root cause.

Robust Design:

Develop and implement techniques to test and remove barriers.

Implement and test the noise matrix at the system and subsystem levels.

Prioritized Skill Requirements:

Technical proficiency in the following areas: Mechanical design experience with small mechanical dimensions and tolerances. Software and hardware integration skills on complex printing systems. System engineering, troubleshooting, and testing skills. Statistical methods and/or design for six sigma practical experience. Experience working to deliver complete system level results.

Written and verbal communication skills including project planning, risk assessment and mitigation, documentation of technical requirements, & technical presentations.

Strong desire to learn and adapt to a continually changing environment. Strong teamwork orientation.

Knowledge of the following technical areas or topics is desirable: transducers, instrumentation, data acquisition, reliability, statistics, testing, design of experiments, software architecture, chemistry, failure analysis skills, contamination analysis & control.

Technical leadership experience as an individual contributor as well as participation on system integration project teams.

Demonstrated experience in product design and development that spans the gamut from research thru technical development thru engineering design and release thru manufacturing startup and transition.

Computer Skills: Knowledgeable in using spreadsheet and databases, including querying and data analysis. Computer aided design and statistical data analysis experience preferred.

Minimum Education Level:

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum Years Experience:

5

Experience (Essential):

BSME is essential

Six Sigma experience is essential

Experience (Desirable):

Systems experience

Measurements development and systems testing

Black Belt (DMAIC or DFSS)
