Oracle DBA / UNIX Systems Administrator
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years experience (highly preferred)
• 6+ years of progressive experience in Information Systems, (Project Leadership skills a big plus)
• Experience in installing, upgrading and maintaining operating systems and system software required.
• Proven ability to perform basic programming functions required.
• Experience with IBM AIX operating system and Sun Solaris operating system desired.
• Experience with Hewlett Packard UNIX operating system desired.
• Experience with DEC hardware and the DEC UNIX Operating System desired.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Optimizes operations schedules on an ongoing basis to provide maximum system availability and throughput.
• Monitors disk space utilization, response time patterns and system availability and throughput, while also monitoring usage and data security for all systems.
• Helps maintain operational procedures and documentation, including macro/script writing and maintenance.
• May be required to take appropriate actions to correct computational errors or to continue operations when individual units of the system malfunction.
• May give direction and guidance to computer operators.
• Will assist in all aspects of Computer Operations, as circumstances require, based on current department policies.
• Maintains working understanding of hardware and operating systems and is responsible for technical support on various systems.
• Performs tasks related to maintaining a viable, on-going operating environment and demonstrates technical proficiency in all aspects of hospital technology.
• Accountable for planning and organizing projects of all size, in maintaining and upgrading systems software, etc.
• In an on-call/support situation may be required to schedule vendors and/or support staff to resolve hardware/software failures.
• Is ultimately responsible for shift coverage when taking Operations on call.
• May be required to work closely with appropriate vendor for software support to resolve problems or in system troubleshooting, and is a primary resource for all internal questions.
• Analyzes existing systems and programming logic difficulties and revises the logic and procedures involved, as necessary. Insures adequate systems testing has taken place.
• Advises, consults and is a primary resource in the implementation of systems programming applications.
• Provides support to other regional facilities.
• Assists in prioritizing projects and tasks and ensures that all requests are satisfied in a timely manner, while maintaining proper operating records and documentation at all times.
• Assists and advises in the planning and installation of new hardware and customizing, maintaining and tuning operation system software.
• Assists in designing/maintaining systems security and related software.
• Provides assistance to applications areas in troubleshooting and solving system problems.
This position is a DBA for Human Resources.
Oracle experience required.
SQL Server and UNIX experience highly desired.
