SQL Server Database Developer

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the systems development life cycle of the company's SQL databases, data warehouses and data dictionary. Responsibilities Include needs analysis, data modeling, test of scope, quality control, optimization, regression and load testing of all pre-production databases to ensure scalability, flexibility, accuracy, completeness, efficiency, security and appropriate use. Works with end users and application developers to create database strategies that support the company's products and operational needs. Consults with, conducts education and advises end users of the various databases and the reporting tools available to them. Works directly with potential users of data, developers and support personnel to anticipate and plan for productive data access, security and utilization. Directs the creation, initial publication and training on use of the corporate data dictionary and provides assistance and advice to other staff members on creation of stored procedures, database design and proper data access.
Job Responsibilities:
•Proficient in the use of SQL Server 2000/2005 technologies.
•Design, code and test T-SQL programming- complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views
•Database architect, capable of defining database objects and relationships as indicated based on requirements of the application.
•Leads a database team/project in design and extensive modification of a database and work with data modeling tools to create ERD
•Data transfer/manipulation using linked servers, DTS/SSIS
•Database performance monitoring, optimization and tuning
•Database and server alerts and error message resolution
•Working with SQL Server 2005 periphery technologies such as Reporting Services, Notification Services, Analysis Services, and Service Broker
•Experience with XML data types, XML parsing and SQL 2005 XML functions
•Strong problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills desired.

Job Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Management or related discipline
Experience:
Three or more years of production database development experience
Knowledge / Skills:
•Professional development courses in Database Design, Architecture, etc.
•Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 Certification a big plus
•Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL a big plus
•Windows NT/2000/2003 Familiarity of server hardware configuration and RAID systems
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
