SHORT SCOOP:
Degreed and/or 3 yrs UNIX systems admin exp; knowledge of UNIX operating system (Solaris & Linux preferred) and Perl & Shell programming skills; C & C++ and trading or similar background preferred.
SUMMARY:
The UNIX Systems Administrator provides operational support and performance monitoring of multiple, remote, proprietary trading environments. He/she also provides analysis to develop improvements for monitoring methodologies, tools, and systems reporting processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides first level tech support for trading staff
* Communicates systems-related issues
* Manages startup of trading environment and monitors system for failures and inefficiencies
* Troubleshoots and resolves unexpected application or system behavior
* Recommends improvements for better management and monitoring of the environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in CS or 2+ yrs work exp as a UNIX systems administrator
* Knowledge of UNIX operating system (Solaris & Linux preferred)
* Strong Perl & Shell programming skills
* C and C++ knowledge is a plus.
