We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Junior Technical Writer to join our highly successful and growing Interactive Group. Our high end flash games and animated characters have made Webkinz.com the fastest growing children's entertainment site on the internet. Responsibilities:
Write and maintain internal documentation of commercial Internet application with large user base.
Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including user guides and manuals, training materials, user policies, and proposals.
Create and maintain documentation including technical briefs, technical specifications, functional specification documents and workflow documentation.
Documentation to be created from existing creative briefs, technical briefs, as well as existing Flash ActionScript and PHP code.
Collaborate with systems and development staff to collect and interpret technical information.
Liaise with department heads and end users to define and identify business procedures and establish documentation needs for hardware and software.
Maintain templates and writing standards for others' use.
Qualifications:
Post-Graduate education in Computer Studies, Technical Writing or Creative Writing.
1-2 years experience writing instructional copy such as game rules, software manuals, FAQ's, etc.
1-2 years experience writing in a business setting - i.e. Briefs and/or Reports.
Proficient at writing in a clear, concise, and structured manner.
Ability to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Very strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
An understanding of technical development for games and/or the Internet.
