This position will serve as a Unix Systems Administrator, with primary responsibilities for supporting the operations and maintenance activities for the Unix platform. Detailed responsibilities include:
*Install, configure, document, and maintain Veritas Netbackup master servers and standard clients for Netbackup version 6.5. The master and media servers are to be hosted on Solaris 10 and AIX. Clients will be Solaris 8,9,10, Red Hat Linux, and AIX. Some Linux clients will be hosted on a VMware ESX environment.
*Backup methodology to be maintains includes backup to disk storage and then offload disk storage to physical and/or virtual tape media. Database backups are either Oracle RMAN exports or file system snapshots of a quiesced database.
*Design, develop and implement reports to monitor failed backups, trends and risk exposures
*Prepare and maintain documentation for monitoring, operational and diagnostic procedures
*Maintain and monitor production systems
*Provide 24x7x365 on-call support as part of a team
Education/Experience:
*Candidate must have 2+ years Unix systems administration experience
*Experience with Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas NetBackup, and large-scale SAN implementations (50+ TB) required
*Candidate should have experience with various server hardware such as Fujitsu Primergy blade servers, Fujitsu PrimeQuest servers, Fujitsu PrimePower servers, Sun SPARC servers, IBM pSeries, HP C7000 blade centers, and Dell R900s
*Familiarity with Hitachi DASD, Brocade SAN switches, Copan and Quantum/ADIC tape libraries
*Candidate should have experience with disaster recovery planning
*Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), related technical field or a minimum of 5 year*s technical experience with a broad range of vendor products
*Ability to pass an extensive background investigation .
*Ability to provide off-hours beeper coverage and support for maintenance during outage windows
