Growing Alaska software consulting firm is looking for a talented professional services manager to lead its Anchorage office. If you've been looking for an opportunity to manage a small team of developers but still stay hands-on with architecture and development, this may be a great spot for you.
As the Professional Services Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a small team of developers, developing and implementing strategic plans and objectives, and managing technical projects. You'll be an integral part of a small company, so you'll need to be very comfortable with building and maintaining client relationships as well as having the technical prowess to develop best-of-breed solutions. You must be adaptable to change, enjoy partnering with clients to ensure delivered projects meet their needs, and have great self-management skills. You should be comfortable scoping projects and have a strong systems analysis background. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and great decision-making skills.
In order to be successful in this position, you should have at least 7 years of systems analysis and multi-tier application development with a variety of languages and platforms (skills in Java, .NET, C/C++ and Perl are highly desired). You should be comfortable working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 preferred) in a highly transactional environment . You should be very familiar with project management methodologies such as PMI or PRINCE2 and be comfortable with development methodologies such as RUP, Agile, XP or Scrum. You should be familiar with the principles of object-oriented application development life cycle and/or CASE technology. You must be able to juggle multiple projects concurrently -- the ability to excel under pressure is highly desired.
