Position Description:
Sr. Enterprise Data Architect to contribute to large-scale enterprise document management system. Required experience includes analyzing user requirements, technical specifications and existing architecture designs reviewing existing server architecture, identifying existing and potential problems, and recommending system changes to meet requirements.
Business analysis has already been done for networking and hardware components, and workflow charts and diagrams have been prepared and studies have been conducted pertaining to development of potential new IS architecture. Will create reports and give presentations to senior IT management.
Responsibilities:
Understand the key objectives with projects involving the large-scale enterprise document management system, and the role an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) architecture will play in supporting these objectives.
Review existing business requirements for decision support and the required source system data, and factor this information into the high-level architecture design activity.
Develop a “To Be” Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture design and technical specifications and ensure projects have proper context within this architecture.
Develop a strategic roadmap to achieve the desired Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture needed to achieve business goals.
Review project objectives, internal data sources, and external data sources, and recommend tactical projects that support the strategic objectives.
Evaluate cost saving opportunities by providing expertise on how to extract, cleanse, transform, move, and store data in efficient, effective, and reliable ways.
Design and develop data transfer solutions between new and existing systems.
Lend expertise in defining enterprise data modeling and technical data design standards.
Review project requirements and design deliverables to assure optimal realization of the data warehouse architecture.
Provide technical oversight and direction for integrating new data storage, data management, and data movement technologies into the IT landscape.
Develop the data model for a person-based repository which will enable the transition of a case-based system to a person-based system.
Provide recommendations on data controls and data quality best practices to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data.
Serve as the lead technical resource in the strategic oversight and planning of data models and database structural design and development.
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of planned databases (e.g. data marts) and data structures.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
A minimum 5 years of solid data warehouse architecture work. Other pluses include strong data warehouse modeling and data analysis skills.
Experience with architecting and designing enterprise-level data warehouses which integrate data from multiple sources.
Experience with designing subject-specific data marts. Specific experience with designing and implementing star schemas, slowly-changing dimensions, as well as summary and history tables.
Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resource staff.
Ability to develop methods of ensuring data incompatibilities and inconsistencies among legacy repositories are systematically eliminated.
Ability to estimate database resource requirements including personnel, software, equipment and facilities. Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead technical discussions, and negotiate and create consensus.
Knowledge of industry best practices around data warehousing standards and architectures.
Knowledge of industry best practices around master data management.
