Job Objective:
We have an exciting, career-defining opportunity for a Converged Solutions Engineer who would like to join a highly motivated team working in the exciting field of converged data networking focused on the implementation of Avaya Voice over IP solutions.
In the role of Converged Solutions Engineer, you will be involved in all phases of the sale and implementation of Converged Communication Solutions for the set of accounts you are assigned.
The ideal candidate posses the following skills
_ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
_ Good organizational and time management skills to work on several accounts
simultaneously.
_ Excellent troubleshooting skills. The ability to lead large engineering teams with diverse skill sets to the resolution of complex converged data network and voice communication issues.
_ Strong understanding of networking technologies including; TCP/IP, DHCP, TFTP, VLAN, QoS, VoIP, various WAN technologies (Frame Relay, MPLS, etc)
_ Experience with configuration and implementation of data switches and routers; Cisco,
Avaya, Extreme products are a plus.
_ Ability to create QoS implementation plans, IP addressing schemes, and VLAN designs.
_ Lead a team of engineers during the pre-implementation phases of a converged solution to ensure the customer's converged data network is ready to support the Avaya
Communications Solution to be implemented.
_ Ability to create network topology maps using MS Visio.
_ Ability to ensure pre-implementation converged network designs will support VoIP traffic.
_ Ability to analyze end-to-end TCP/IP protocol trace to identify network connectivity issues is a strong plus.
_ Provide technical leadership in the area of VoIP implementation to other team members. This includes field technicians responsible for benching and implementing Avaya Communication Solutions, on-site network engineers, and the customer's IT staff.
_ Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
_ Knowledge of traditional voice technologies.
_ Knowledge of wireless LAN/WAN technologies is a plus.
_ Knowledge of LAN/WAN security a plus.
_ Cisco and Avaya certifications, CCNA, ACA, etc.
This job offers an individual with strong people skills, initiative, and broad technical background the opportunity to gain exposure to the business side of the exciting field of converged communication solutions and grow technically in this field. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to team well with customers, project managers, account executives, field technicians, and various Avaya services personal.
The candidate must be able to learn new things quickly, need a minimum of direction, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Good technical troubleshooting skills are essential for working field problems.
Overall knowledge of DEFINITY PBX and Avaya Communication Manager solutions is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of data networking technologies including Cisco switches, routers, VoIP, and QoS is a must.
