Social Applications Lead PHP Developer
Our client is a major multi-media entertainment powerhouse. They want to allow people to consume their content where they already spend time. Our client has been at the forefront of the Viral Syndication evolution and has big plans for Viral Apps leveraging the platform APIs of the social networks like Facebook, MySpace etc.
They are seeking a bright, enthusiastic and energetic team player to lead the architecture, design and development of viral apps. This position is going to be part of a Central Product development group that will work with all their brands.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Development leadership for the Social Networking Application Development team to ensure that the functional needs are met.
- Contribute technical leadership to the engineering team, including best practices and processes that enable the team to continually improve productivity and quality of products delivery.
- Review specifications to support the application, design, coding and testing of systems.
- Manage the time to market v/s architectural complexity tradeoff
- Work with Platform team to ensure that existing REST services are leveraged to the fullest extent.
- Work with Platform team to ensure that common functionalities are wrapped into the Core Platform
- Work with the platform team and the development team to ensure scalability (tens of millions of page views a day).
- Develop guidelines for reuse and portability across Social Networking sites like Facebook, MySpace Bebo etc.
- Provide guidance to the Open Social Alliance from a Content/Media Company/App Developer perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing Internet applications using the following technologies: PHP / JavaScript / CSS / AJAX/REST APIs
- Minimum 3 years of experience architecting highly scalable systems
- Minimum 3 years of object oriented design experience
Desired Experience:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent. MS is a plus.
- Experience developing Facebook applications is a big plus
- Understands what makes applications social and experience promoting and marketing them
- Oracle DB experience
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proven technical and project management skills, strong leadership skills
- Ability to mentor, work closely with others
- Thrives in rapid application development environment
- Verifiable references
Eligibility Requirements:
- Willingness to travel, and work overtime and on weekends with short notice.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation.
- Must be 18 years or older.
