A Chicago based trading firm seeks a Linux System Administrator to provide support for applications and systems used by our global Business. You'll work on applications for Front-Office Trading, Electronic Trading Systems, Position Keeping, Back-Office Systems and Exchange Connectivity
The right candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with the administration of Linux Systems. Responsibilities of the position include: diagnosing system problems, deployment of new systems, database research, application of patches and performing OS and application up-grades on existing systems. The Linux System Administrator will handle configurations, installations, monitoring, testing and support of our Linux systems.
The candidate should have solid troubleshooting skills, as the position requires one to perform systems troubleshooting and system optimization on a daily basis. The role will involve interaction with traders and software development groups at all levels within the firm. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must for this position. Familiarity with financial markets is highly desirable, but not essential. The candidate will be expected to gain new financial knowledge as needed
Qualifications
-3 + years of experience with the administration of Linux based Systems, including Linux configuration/installation/maintenance knowledge
-Solid troubleshooting skills
-Proficient with UNIX scripting languages like Perl, UNIX Shell, awk, etc.
-Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures
-Excellent (English language) communication skills, both written and oral
-Results oriented, highly flexible, team player
-Willingness and strong desire to learn
-Familiarity with financial markets is desirable
