The Role:
The Manager, Systems and Solutions works closely with business unit leaders to identify and create business automation solutions and will help business leaders identify process improvement opportunities, support the development of business cases for each opportunity, find technology solutions, and manage the implementation of these solutions in a production environment. The Manager, Systems and Solutions is responsible for a comprehensive approach to implementation of related business systems with emphasis on delivering competitive advantage, betterment of patient/client care, customer service, improved efficiency, improved quality and optimal use of resources.
The Manager will also assume responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of the Systems and Solutions staff and all activities performed in Systems and Solutions area of Information Systems. This includes working on agreed priorities following through all stages of the SDLC. He/she manages the Systems and Solutions Group time / project management techniques / tools to emphasize proactive planning and monitoring of assignments through to successful completion with WIN/WIN results for both the customer as well as IS.
The Manager will interact with the IS Steering Committee to gain approval for new projects, set priorities for the project portfolio and report on the progress of each project.
Position Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or management information systems and 10+ years related work experience. Project management and business analysis certifications are desirable. He or she will have proven experience with business and technical needs analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling; and will have an excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to help business users translate their requirements into well defined, detailed system specifications (either for system acquisition or internal development); have a demonstrated ability to help business users create business cases and ROI for automation initiatives.
He or she will have excellent project management skills and project management software skills, including MS Project; experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products; proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and applications systems.
He or she will additionally demonstrate the following:
? the ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both a technical and user-friendly language;
? the ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required;
? have a working technical knowledge of industry standard programming languages;
? have a working knowledge of industry standard network and PC operating systems and platforms;
? an in-depth knowledge of Canadian, Ontario and United States data privacy practices and laws;
? and a strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
