Currently we are inviting applications for the position of Manager of Financial Systems.
A) Purpose and Scope
Purpose: The Manager of Financial Systems will coordinate the planning, implementation, and ongoing use of various financial and management information systems that support the business and reporting needs of World Vision Canada. The Manager will ensure the integrity of the financial systems and assist in embracing strategic change; responding appropriately and in a timely fashion with regards to application systems and development. The Manager of Financial Systems will communicate World Vision's Christian ethos, especially its core value of good stewardship of resources, and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.
B) Responsibilities
Management of Systems Applications Development Projects
Provide strategic leadership and system management of critical strategic financial systems applications
Provide critical resource allocation, path time lines and find creative solutions to information needs/requirements that go beyond standard software
Develop teaching tools, bringing them to a classroom setting and teach as required
People & Team Development
Manage and coach business analyst to ensure the team succeeds in being an effective finance business partner to internal clients
Provide leadership through joint goal-setting with the Director and ensure team is congruent with WVC strategy
Review direct report's performance on a regular basis, providing feedback and coaching throughout the year
Management of Client Relationships and Services
Ensure excellent customer service is provided to a variety of internal as well as external customers (ie. Marketing, Finance, donors, vendors, etc.); including developing, training and empowering users to trouble shoot problems for best solutions
Provide reports or tools that provide useful, accurate and timely information
Determine faster, more efficient ways of doing financial tasks that are routine and repetitive in nature
Investigate analysis on systems
Respond to diverse financial needs by finding creative solutions
Strategic Change Management for Application Systems
Provide strategic change management in a growing dynamic environment as it relates to Financial Information Systems.
Anticipate directional change (listening, participating in cross functional teams)
Measure and assess changes as they apply to financial information needs and their impact on the software
Determine what, if any, course of action is required to assist in directional change
Job Requirements

Strong analytical and reporting skills; ability to translate financial information to business consequences and solutions
Strong accounting knowledge; NPO accounting experience is an asset
Effective time-management skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities
Flexible and can easily adapt to a fast-changing environment to meet client needs and seeks continuous improvement of the status-quo
Highly proficient with Excel; good understanding of database structures
Education and Training
University graduate with a Bachelors degree in Accounting, IT or Business Administration
Certified applications expert for JD Edwards
Project Management Professional (preferred)
Knowledge of accounting and management information systems, databases, MS Office and Lotus Notes preferred
