The Health Solutions Group (HSG) is a startup business within Microsoft developing innovative software solutions for the healthcare industry. Our solutions could help save lives and improve the quality of patient care around the world. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for optimizing our overall solutions architecture and deployment strategy to enable successful deployments and long term adoption of our solutions at premier healthcare institutions around the world. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop a thorough understanding of the complete Amalga solution stack from hardware to server platforms to client software
• Analyze, evaluate and drive optimizations or modifications to the overall architecture of the solution with an eye towards serviceability, performance, security, scalability and ease of adoption by customers
• Act as a key technical advisor to ongoing customer deployment projects with specific focus on clearly framing the deployment strategy at any given customer, reviewing end-to-end solutions architecture for a given customer project, shortening deployment times, and overcoming technical hurdles during deployment
• Partner with senior customer IT architects at our early adopter customer sites in solving deployment or adoption hurdles encountered by customers in their use of Amalga
• Own the development of best practices and prescriptive architectural guidance that can be readily applied to future projects, based on lessons learned from real-world customer application of our solutions
• Drive the continuous improvement of overall solutions architecture and technical deployment strategy
• Champion technical requirements with the product engineering team, based on real-world experiences of customer's deploying, managing and using the system
• Represent the services teams and customer needs in product planning and product roadmap discussions with the engineering and product management teams
Required Skills:
• 5-10 years experience as a software architect with deep technical skills in enterprise-class development tools, platform architecture and very large database systems
• Demonstrated track record of working effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, and influencing these audiences without direct authority
• Deep familiarity with the Microsoft portfolio of enterprise software products -- with specific focus on Windows Server, SQL Server, Windows client operating system and.NET technologies -- especially in the context of large scale enterprise line-of-business solutions built on these technologies
• A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. MS / Ph D preferred
• Ability to interact with senior technical executives at customer organizations
• Healthcare industry background strongly preferred
• Up to 30% travel may be required, with some international
