The development engineer will troubleshoot and fix current systems, improve accuracy, precision, and performance of code, upgrade SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages as necessary, and perform testing and other QA activities.
Other responsibilities include:
Daily monitoring of all scheduled ETL processes
Trouble shooting and resolution as issues arise in current DTS based ETL processes
QA and testing of new SSIS version of ETL code
Document and maintain all code in Client's Perforce SCM system
SQL Server 2000 Design, Schema and Query development
SQL Server 2005 Design, Schema and Query development
DTS to SSIS Upgrade and Migration
Development of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes
Development in Windows Script Host and DOS batch, .NET, and T/SQL
Queries, procedures, functions, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report definitions
The development engineer will also be responsible for the proper functioning of all scheduled Business Intelligence ETL jobs, monitor job logs and alerts and trouble shoot and fix any identified deficiencies in the DTS-based ETL jobs, port any modifications to the new SSIS-based ETL code, conform to CSTR's development standards, participate in the testing and QA of the new SSIS-based ETL code and help to implement the newly developed SQL Server 2005 and SSIS Data Warehouse server, develop T/SQL stored procedures and user defined functions, SSRS report definitions, and SSAS cubes as needed, utilize industry best practices as part of the development of ETL applications, perform code reviews with CSTR team members and receive approval on all changes.
