We have an exciting and exclusive Oracle DBA opportunity in the Northwest suburbs of Minneapolis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitors, administers, and maintains production databases.
• Regularly ensures that standby databases are up to date.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of multiple databases.
• Assists the development group with the implementation of data models and definition of optimum data access paths.
• Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues.
• Maintains and improves existing disaster recovery procedures, and develops new disaster recovery procedures as needed. Performs quality assurance of existing and new disaster recovery procedures.
• Promptly responds to critical e-mail notifications coming from monitoring tools.
• Resolves urgent database related issues over phone.
• Performs Import/Export operations.
• Backs up databases and validates backups on a regular basis. Performs database space usage activities: tablespace maintenance, yearly cleanup, provides space growth estimates based on usage.
• Conducts research on new database features.
• Based on monitoring data, provides feedback to the Development Group to improve/optimize usage of database resources.
• Collaborates with the IT Group to maintain the health of the database servers.
• Works with the IT Manager to establish database management procedures that meet ISO 27001 security standards.
• Discovers and documents existing database management procedures that are not already documented; validates currently documented procedures
• May occasionally have to work after hours and/or on holidays
REQUIRED:
• Minimum 3 years experience as a DBA
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in related area
• Team player
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field
