JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a key systems engineering position supporting the Department of Transportation is a fast-paced, high-energy, large 5-year program to transform and modernize a legacy software systems through implementation of an enterprise-wide Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Primary responsibilities will include providing data center architecture and engineering support in the areas of infrastructure and environment management, software deployment, and customer support center operations. The ideal candidate's responsibilities and experience include:
o Integration team leadership that can be visible and vocal, communicating regularly with team members, identifying, delegating, and tracking work progress.
o “Solutions oriented” engineering with the ability to decompose and address complex systems and applications problems.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
At least 5 years of experience in system integration involving UNIX and Linux and Microsoft Windows computing environment, including:
* System integration knowledge of WebSphere and WebMethods
* Experience with large-scale software systems integration, with an emphasis in deployment, operations, maintenance, and support with understanding of relevant hardware systems, networks and security relationships and how to integrate them into the technical environment.
DESIRED SKILLS:
+ Familiarity with software development environments including Java, Oracle, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web Services
+ Experience with F5 Networks Load Balancer, Hyperic, IBM Identify Management System, Veritas Network Storage and Backup System
+ Understand and Implement Networking and security, specifically can implement IP security in an enterprise environment (PVLAN, VLAN, etc)
+ Experience with Dept of Transportation and/or Volpe projects a plus
OTHER Requirements:
* US Citizenship
* Be able to work at physical office in Crystal City, Arlington, VA
EDUCATION:
+ BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
