Web Portal Specialist #MD8281db
AED is seeking a Web Portal Specialist to assist with the day to day maintenance of online communities and web content on the Global Learning Portal and related web sites.
The Global Learning Portal (GLP) is a multi lingual learning network for educators around the world, with tools to build online communities of practice and to share and find useful education materials. GLP members can store and share resources, and participate in online learning and communities of practice.
The Web Portal Specialist will:
• Prepare web page design mockups and site maps using a variety of tools
• Prepare report on community activity and site traffic
• Under the supervision of GLP technical and program officer, work with current and potential partners to develop work plans for online community activities
• Assume technical responsibility for particular portal project under the GLP
• Coordinate subcontractors and manage relations between them and the GLP
Requirements
Bachelors in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience; Experience creating web page and modifying web content; project management experience; Experience creating and resizing simple web graphics; must be equally skilled in editing HTML code and using a graphical web tool such Dreamweaver; Interest in expanding database skills such as XML and MySQL; Reading/writing skills in Arabic, French or Spanish helpful but not required; Interest in learning about multilingual content, character encoding, evolving international web standards; Experience with or strong interest in education, international development, issues facing teacher a plus.
Salary range: Mid 30's to high 40's
