The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), founded in 1908, is a professional association of more than 40,000 chemical engineers worldwide. AIChE fosters and disseminates chemical engineering knowledge, supports the professional and personal growth of its members, and applies the expertise of its members to address societal needs and improve the quality of life.
We are currently seeking a Director of New Media to join our team. The successful individual will be responsible for the oversight of the public website. This role requires a high level of web expertise, experience and passion for New Media, coupled with excellent client management skills. The Director will research emerging technologies, define initiatives and ensure that the web development team is using the best in class methodology and tools.
Responsibilities:
•Lead new projects based on organizational needs to further advance technology based-communication through the latest technology and tools.
•Implement new initiatives to the national website that will advance the organization's mission, as well as, attract and engage members, non-member and donors and potential donors.
•Supervise staff to ensure the public website is updated in a timely fashion.
•Direct outside vendors as needed for the various projects undertaken.
•Oversee roll-out of chapter/region and Institute websites.
•Create and maintain budget.
•Oversee/update functionality of all websites.
Requirements:
•A minimum of 7 years experience managing and developing web-based products; a BS degree is required.
•Solid understanding of web technologies, such as portals, content management, personalization, search engines, community software, blogging, and their application to meet business objectives - .NET, Classic ASP, Trouble ticketing, Microsoft technologies, Ektron a plus.
•Thorough understanding of standard Information Architecture and/or software engineering design methodology.
•Must be well-versed in building and using content management systems.
•Must have knowledge of website creation, technology, software and best practices.
•Must be able to plan strategically while keeping a very careful eye to details.
•Excellent communication and writing skills required.
•Ability to multi-task and oversee diverse projects simultaneously.
•Ability to manage technical vendors as necessary; strong client management skills.
•Experience incorporating membership and meetings modules on a public website a plus.
