Job Description:
The Magellan Network is a 40 person start up located in sunny four seasons Durango, Colorado. We design and develop products and services that enable diners to save time and enrich their dining experience. This service provides additional revenue and operational efficiencies to restaurants. We deliver the commercial benefits of the internet to restaurants by turning their Web sites into 24/7 sales channels. By providing diners more online options, we help restaurants profit by increasing their revenue while reducing their costs.
We are currently looking for an Interaction Designer who will help us to create practical and usable products and services that follow the fundamental tenets of user-centered Interaction design. This person must be grounded in a practice of understanding real users--their goals, tasks, experiences, needs, and wants. This designer must be able to balance users' needs with business goals and technological capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities/Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a multi-talented, professional individual with a degree in graphic design, interaction design, or human-computer interaction.
Candidates should have a thorough appreciation and understanding of web technologies and trends, usability techniques, and usable interface solutions. Candidate must be able to understand, design, and optimize workflow, user interaction, and layout, as well as translate written specifications into workable designs. This position will work with product managers, project managers, other designers, and engineers. Primary platforms will be web-based and web-enabled applications.
The successful candidate will be:
• Highly logical, very organized designer
• Fluent in Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ideally fluent in HTML, Javascript and Dreamweaver or other technical aspects of development
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in software or web application design
• Able to provide solutions to complex design challenges and define new and evolving interactive products and services
• Have a degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or Graphic Design
• Able to answer the question, “What is interaction design?”
Candidate will be experienced with:
• User research
• Task flows
• Maps
• Design of wireframes
• Graphic/interface design
• Specification development
• Usability testing
