Position: Senior Software Developer/Engineer
The Role:
We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our talented team. You'll be working on our Babyzone Web property as a lead software developer -- producing code and mentoring other members of the group. We're looking for someone who loves constant change and also loves the Web. If you are passionate about creating beautiful code, and have strong opinions about design patterns you'll likely fit in well with our group. We like developers who have a strong team focus - those who crave design debates, rather than shy away from them.
In this role, you and your team will be maintaining our existing platform while at the same time working on development of our next generation technology. This is an opportunity to work with some of the latest Web frameworks together with a talented team. You'll be working as part of a product development team that includes a Project Manager, other developers and a quality assurance analyst.

If you are up to the challenge of designing and maintaining our next generation applications as well as mentoring our less seasoned developers in how to build best of breed Web applications, we'd love to talk to you.
Your Qualifications/Experiences should include some (or most) of below:
• You've had multiple years of experience as a technical team leader or senior/lead software engineer and enjoy being hands on with development.
• You're able to balance maintenance of legacy systems with next generation platform development.
• You understand how to balance time, scope and quality when working with legacy systems.
• You've built numerous web sites and have knowledge of Object Oriented programming and design.
• You've worked with wide variety of open source and commercial Web systems.
• You can talk to us about techniques for scaling and optimizing performance of Web sites.
• You have a solid understanding of basic SEO, SEM, Ad serving and Analytics practices and technologies.
• You use an RSS reader every day, and love keeping up-to-date on the latest Web offerings.
• You have experience with dynamic sites serving large volumes of content managed by a CMS.
• You scour the Web daily for innovations and bring an entrepreneurial outlook to your role.
• You have experience with Microsoft Web technologies but are open to spending considerable time working with various open source technologies (Ruby, PHP, Python)
• That said, you aren't religious about technologies; you pick the right tool for the job at hand.
• You truly believe that software development is meant to be iterative and adaptive.
• You like to read books about software development and have a book on your night stand right now.
• You understand why code reviews are worth doing and are able to facilitate code reviews effectively.
• You know how and why you use branching in source code control systems and are comfortable with various SCC systems -- GIT, SVN, CVS, and Perforce etc.
• You know you aren't a graphic designer, but you can do the basics in Photoshop when it comes to image slicing and Web optimization.
• You know the different ways to use caching in web applications and the benefits and drawbacks of each.
• You feel equally at home on a Unix/Linux shell and the Windows command prompt.
• You're comfy hand crafting SQL queries and indexes for performance-critical situations
• You have knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as prototype and JQuery.
Technologies (take this with a grain of salt; we need solid fundamentals more than X years of Y):
• Microsoft Windows Server and IIS, Microsoft SQL Server
• XHTML/XML/HTML, CSS, XSL and Web Standards, Web Services (REST/SOAP/XML-RPC)
• AJAX, DHTML, JavaScript
• Classic ASP, ASP .NET 1.1 and 2.0; experience a must for today.
• Ruby, PHP, Python, MYSQL; experience desired for future.
• Configuration Management (Source Code Control, Deployments, Builds, Defect Tracking)
