The client is looking to fill the position of UNIX Administrator in Chicago, IL. It is a 3 months contract position with possibility of direct hire after the contract ends.

Job Description:
The candidate will become a member of a multi-flavor UNIX (predominantly AIX, and Linux) support team responsible for support and administration in the Little Rock environment. This team has responsibility for the day-to-day management of web, application, database, and infrastructure servers on the various UNIX operating system platforms. Day to day responsibilities include working with staff to ensure delivery of server management services. The candidate must be able to work with various client's internal groups and external customers to bring new business into the enterprise by participating in various projects and company initiatives. Projects include end to end solutions for internal and external clients, operational efficiencies, centralized administration, and planning and implementation for leveraging assets and resources. Additionally, the candidate must be able to manage time sensitive projects under stressful conditions while maintaining a professional demeanor. The candidate must show leadership and team-building skills, and be able to articulate accountability to management for issues related to their organization. The candidate may be required to work overtime hours, weekends, and other hours related to certain projects to ensure distribution success and provide periodic on-call support and management escalation.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must have 5 years of technical experience in a multi-flavor UNIX environment with experience heavily weighted in AIX power 5 and above. Candidate must understand at a high level all types of UNIX operating systems and their associated hardware components. Candidate must be customer service oriented and able to handle customer needs with a consultative approach.

Education:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university, Technical School Certificate and/or equivalent experience in a computer science, security or computer services field.

Experience:
Candidate should have five years of technical experience with a strong knowledge of Client/Server Environment functionality. Familiarity with AIX 5.2/5.3, and RedHat/SUSE Linux are critical. Candidate should have experience in a 24/7 lights-out datacenter and the ability to be comfortable providing remote support.
