LBNL is a multi-program national research facility operated by the University of California for the Department of Energy. As an integral element of DOE's national laboratory system, its role is to provide national scientific leadership and technological innovation to support the DOE's missions in fundamental science, energy resources, and environmental quality.
The Enterprise Collaboration Administrator is responsible for planning, designing, implementing and maintaining the Lab's enterprise collaboration services and assisting with new technology deployment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining applications and services, as well as resolving matters with vendors.
Specifically, you will:
Support, maintain, and monitor the performance primarily of Xythos and various web applications (e.g. Drupal, Twiki) and provide secondary support for Oracle Calendar and eRoom.
Create scripts and automate administrative procedures to support the smooth operation of the various collaboration services.
Plan, organize, and manage deployment of new technology and services.
Work with Group Leader to plan and implement service upgrades.
Interact with users or project teams to establish system specifications and resolve problems.
Train users and other high-level systems professionals in implementation and operation.
Monitor trends in the computing environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Computer Systems Engineer III
In addition to the Computer Systems Engineer II duties described above, the Computer Systems Engineer III will:
Operate at a higher level of independence and responsibility when carrying out assignments.
Exercise independent judgment and select appropriate solutions.
Mentor and train other team members in areas of expertise.
Lead technically complex projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and a minimum of four years related experience.
Demonstrated experience with computer and network systems.
Experience with collaboration tools like Xythos, Oracle Calendar, and eRoom.
Experience with scripting languages (Perl, UNIX or windows shell scripts) and traditional programming environments (Java, PHP).
Experience with Linux (Redhat/Centos) and Windows Operating Systems familiarity with Apache and Tomcat for web services and with Oracle or MySQL DBMS.
Experience in web based applications including open source software (Drupal , Twiki, Wordpress, Mediawiki)
Off-hours and weekend work may be required for system maintenance.
Computer Systems Engineer III
In addition to the qualifications listed above, the Computer Systems Engineer III requires:
A minimum of eight years experience in the areas listed above.
Previous experience running enterprise services for an organization similar in size to the Lab.
The ability to recognize and implement new technologies that will benefit the Laboratory and facilitate its research mission.
Demonstrated ability to be a decisive leader and exercise independent judgment.
Knowledge and experience in project management and project control activities.
