Senior Java Programmer needed for one of Western New York's largest company's!
Essential Job Responsibilities
• In coordination with the Director of IT, design, develop, customize and deploy JSR-168 and VAP Portalbean application portlets to meet the needs of various business units.
• Meet with business unit representatives to gain a thorough understanding of the business that need to be addressed through the new / revised application.
• Follow a systematic process to evaluate possible solutions to meet the business need; propose optimal solution for approval by director of IT prior to implementation.
• Program, debug and deploy these applications.
• Follow-up with users to assess performance of new applications and make any further adjustments as necessary.
• As upgrades become available, assess impact, schedule and perform upgrades.
• Establish and implement a regular schedule of database maintenance to ensure that the system is running optimally at all times
Experience & Education Guidelines
1. Four-year degree in computer science or closely related field
2. Direct experience in Java and JSP is required. Experience in technologies to include Servlets, JSP, JDBC and Web Services; earned Sun certification in Java and J2EE is preferred
3. At least two years of web development including HTML, JavaScript, JSP, and CSS is preferred.
4. Experience with a database databases is required.
