Summary / Objective:

• Maintain and support SQL databases for various custom business applications
• Responsible for all aspects of application and system administration and report generation that will improve the utilization and effectiveness of the Altiris products deployed in production environment
• Act as Altiris application and system administrator on key IT projects
• Involved in all aspects of investigating and deploying new Altiris solution suites and related products and enhancements
• Perform code migrations and upgrades throughout the Altiris application environment
• Maintain Altiris Notification Server components and associated container structures
• Create .NET scripts and SQL queries as needed
• Create reports either through Altiris Wizard or direct SQL queries as required to provide metrics statistics
• Relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines, policies, and procedures to perform many functions of the job
• Will assist in addressing customer escalation from other team members
• Provide incident workarounds and problem resolutions to complex system issues


Responsibilities:

• Responsible for adhering to all relevant ISO ISMS policies and procedures
• Design and develop database schemas and database objects based on design specifications, software requirements, in close collaboration with development team members and/or vendors
• Analyzes data integration problems, provides solutions, and recommends and executes corrective actions
• Plays an active role in system-level design, planning, testing and implementation
• Understands and adheres to database development processes and standards; aids management in their optimization and maintenance
• Creates ETL logic to load and extract data to and from the data warehouse
• Prioritizes database tasks and is able to identify areas of potential database risk
• Responsible for implementing process improvements, work redesign, and best practices
• This individual will work closely with business application users and the technical support teams to ensure the systems supported are operating at optimal performance
• Provide advanced troubleshooting of application and data issues
• Ensure system and data backups are configured properly and successful
• Document system design and configuration
• Perform system maintenance and upgrades
• Other duties as assigned by management



Educational Requirements:

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in application systems with considerable understanding of the support of business processes
• Current MCSE/MCDBA certification, preferred
• ITIL Foundations certification, preferred
• Strongly desire Altiris Certified Engineers


Professional Experience / Qualifications:

• Candidates should possess at least 3 to 6 years experience in the Information Technology field.
• Must have 2-3 years of experience with SQL 2000/2005
• Expert knowledge in the support of the Altiris product suite is a plus; Specifically Service Desk, Asset Management, CMDB, Deployment Server, and Server Infrastructure monitoring
• Knowledge of Altiris canned reports and ability to create custom reports
• Experience with Cognos is a plus
• Knowledge of Citrix Server Administration is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer
• Must be proficient with T-SQL, DTS, SSIS, and ETL
• Knowledge and experience in SQL Server index maintenance, optimal file placement, table partitioning, temp db tuning, and critical SQL server related performance monitor counters
• Understands and ability to properly utilize aggregate functions in SQL
• Experience working with a data warehouse
• Must possess advanced ability to multitask, prioritize, and work through high-pressure situations and juggle project based workload to successfully meet the needs of our customers while maintaining a professional attitude
• Thorough understanding of DML statements (i.e. inner join, outer join, cross joins, self joins, aggregate functions, etc.)
• Must have ability to develop applications using Microsoft .NET and VB .NET
• Advanced ability to troubleshoot SQL views, stored procedures, and functions
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Advanced use of profile to troubleshoot SQL calls from the application
• Thorough understanding of data structures
• Strong understanding of application systems, Enterprise systems, and business intelligence methods and the ability to quickly learn new software solutions
• Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards
• Critical thinking, creativity, and independent judgment are expected
• Develops system documentation, technical user guides, policies, procedures and guidelines for system operations.
• Must have strong problem solving skills
• Must have good communication skills across teams and levels of organization.
