Our short term need is for a Senior Business Analyst for the requirements definition and management phase of a large project. This person's focus would be to write clear, concise business/functional requirements, work directly with subject matter experts, and develop use cases and use case diagrams in the Borland DefineIT and Caliber Requirements Management software tool. The business processes and most requirements have been captured in rough format, and we are ready to move forward to the requirements definition phase.
The objectives and deliverables are as follows for utilizing this contractor:
• Become familiar with the our business model, policies, procedures and systems.
• Evaluate the documents/artifacts that have been produced to date for our requirements gathering effort.
• Spend time with several SMEs to identify and document any areas that are not currently well defined/documented.
• Organize all of the information at his/her disposal for each subject area.
• Identify business rules that drive each particular area.
• Work with the other Business Analysts to coordinate requirements definition and scope among the interfacing areas.
• Write the functional requirements for each assigned area based on the documented results of the above activities.
• Set up and lead reviews in meetings with subject matter experts and BSI executives.
• Make all necessary changes to artifacts he/she developed.
• Report progress weekly to the Project Manager, and take project-related direction from same.
• Complete a requirements outline for each assigned area in MS-Word per our defined template.
• Import the requirements outline into Borland.
• Create Borland DefineIT flows as deemed necessary to clarify specific requirements
• Create use cases and use case diagrams in Borland for each area.
We need a candidate who has strong experience with definition, writing and managing business and functional requirements. Some expertise/experience with a software development lifecycle and an IT environment is also necessary. The time frame is to bring the right candidate on within 2-3 weeks, and conclude by Dec. 31, 2008. A small amount of travel may be necessary.
