Job Overview: The ideal candidate for this job will bring extensive experience in Java-based software development and Calypso, as well as additional expertise in Calypso and investment management domain knowledge from an investment management, fixed income, equities or post trade background and Agile Development or extreme Programming development. The candidate should be naturally curious, passionate about solving business problems through high-quality solutions, and be someone who has demonstrated flexibility in meeting needs of a challenging, fast-paced business environment.
Essential elements:
• Candidates will be smart, motivated and able to demonstrate success within their career to date.
• They will be interested in the business drivers plus issues and be pragmatic in their approach to delivering solutions.
• Experience supporting mid-office systems particularly areas such as risk, collateral, and cash management along with trade lifecycle and operational process for derivative and fixed income instruments ideal
• Prior hedge fund experience is a significant advantage
• Experience implementing Calypso based solutions required
• Experience applying MDDL, FpML, SWIFT or similar is highly desirable
• Experience integrating with DTCC, Swapswire or T-Zero is highly desirable
• Minimum 5 years experience developing client/server, distributed systems
• Minimum 4 years experience supporting business-critical systems
• Minimum 5 years experience in object-oriented analysis/design
• Prior development experience with Agile methods is an advantage; the Agile methodology nuances will be taught upon arrival
• Strong knowledge of derivatives e.g. all credit Derivatives, IRS, CDS, CDS Index, TRS, Options, Futures, Swaps, Swaptions, Repo's, ABS/MBS etc with some prior experience of Fixed Income instruments
• Experience working in global teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
Key requirements and essential elements for this job include:
The successful candidate will develop, implement and integrate a Calypso with internal systems on the Java/J2EE platform within the post trade or middle- office area using our client's custom software development methodology (Agile) which is based on practices from XP (Extreme Programming).
Technical skills:
• Calypso -- Advanced Knowledge of Calypso APIs, Workflow and Messaging (3+ years)
•Java -- Fundamentals Advanced (5+ years)
•Java -- J2EE/EJBs is a significant plus
•XML 3+ years
•Java -- Swing Intermediate
•Oracle or equivalent RDBMS 2+ years
•Experience with JDBC, JMS, JMX, and RMI highly valued
•Strong object-oriented application design and development skills
•Extensive knowledge of design patterns
•Experience with n-tier deployment and data caching
•Delivery experience on an actual J2EE project with integration with 3rd party applications
•Domain knowledge in investments and portfolio management required
•Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration
•Data modeling and SQL (Oracle preferred)
•Interfacing via messaging (IBM MQ preferred)
•Experience working in global teams
