Systems Administrator
One of Flagstaff Consulting's clients provides integrated commercial software solutions that help scientists, engineers, researchers and medical professionals turn complex data into useful information. Their 150,000 customers from over 80 countries use IDL, ENVI and IAS to analyze data and imagery and deploy imaging applications.
Our client's solutions are used in a variety of industries, including remote sensing, engineering, earth sciences, aerospace and defense, medical imaging, oil and gas exploration and biotechnology. Combined with a host of support services including training, consulting and technical support, our client offers the most complete data visualization and image analysis solutions available.
They are seeking a highly-motivated individual with proven Windows/Unix system administration and networking experience to join their fast-paced IT team. Qualified candidates must be results-oriented with exceptional attention to detail and strong troubleshooting skills. A collaborative nature and commitment to customer service is essential.
Responsibilities include the administration of their systems worldwide and the design and implementation of a wide variety of hardware/software solutions. Some after-hours work is required and qualified candidates must be willing to share on-call duties and respond to critical system failures as necessary.
Required Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
• 4+ years of system administration experience, including:
o Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory & replication troubleshooting
o Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003, Linux, Solaris 9/10, and Mac OSX
o MS Exchange 2003-2007
o BlackBerry Enterprise Server & PDA experience
o Server/Desktop/Laptop deployments
o Ghost & Sysprep OS imaging
o Print server & queue administration
o SQL Server 2000-2005 administration a plus
• Expert knowledge in WAN and LAN administration. Qualified candidates will have experience with many or all of the following:
o Cisco router and switch configurations
o Site to site and mobile user VPN setup and maintenance
o NFS, NIS, FTP & CIFS in heterogeneous networks (SAMBA & Windows Services for UNIX)
o VMWare ESX 2.5x-3.5x
o DNS management using Windows DNS & BIND
o System monitoring tools (SNMP and What's Up Gold preferred)
o Network design and documentation experience a big plus
o Basic NAS & SAN experience preferred (NetApp/IBM DS4XXX arrays)
o Mail gateway, spam, & mailbox delivery troubleshooting
o Backup/recovery experience with latest tools & techniques
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
