Sr. UNIX Administrator needed for a CTH position outside of Boston, Mass.
Job Description:
The person in this role will be the sole individual supporting a small UNIX shop. This person will work autonomously while adhering to corporate defined architectural and procedural standards.
Responsibilities include:
-First point of contact and direct support for IT and Engineering issues at site
-First responder to local IT service outages; first point of escalation for off hours issues
-Installation and maintenance of Engineering infrastructure including storage arrays, compute servers, and engineering desktop workstations
-Advise management and architecture teams of evolving IT and Engineering needs
-Act as liaison to remote Corporate IT & Business Unit service providers
-Generally ensure that desktop and engineering IT needs are being met.
- Some minimal travel to California will occasionally be required.
Skills/Experience:
- UNIX Systems Administration experience (5-10 years)
- Linux experience required; SUSE/SLES experience preferred
- Solaris experience required
- Desktop Unix support experience required
- NAS experience required; Netapp experience preferred
- RAID direct attach storage experience required
- Ability to read/maintain/debug shell scripts (perl,ksh,sh) required
- Desktop Windows XP support experience required
- HA Cluster technologies (Sun Cluster,Veritas) experience preferred
- LAN/WAN troubleshooting experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills a must
Additional Skills:
- Experience supporting EDA tools highly desirable (Cadence, Synopsis, Designsync)
- Grid computing experience highly desirable (LSF)
- Data Center operations experience highly desirable
- Enterprise level Windows administration a plus
Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Science or equivalent experience
