Information Security Officer

Reporting to the Career Centre Manager, the Information Security Officer is the primary contact for information security for the locations/companies support. The ISO will implement sound information security governance and respond to information security related incidents. The position has the following Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct security risk assessments and identify security solutions to ensure transparent risk awareness to support critical decision making
• Collaborate with ISO members to develop information security policies and standards for all companies by using different business strategies to meet key business partner and client expectations
• Recommend security compliance and remediation for technology processes and services
• Work with ISO members and the CISO to develop and implement an ongoing and evolving enterprise security awareness and training program
• Implement and maintain awareness of security/privacy industry to keep up to date with best practices, trends, technologies and regulatory requirements
• Actively monitor and assess vulnerabilities and exploits for major security incidents for specific locations/companies
• Make critical decisions and take appropriate actions in a decisive and timely manner.
• Report recommendations for security risks and communicate with senior level I.S.
• Implement and develop security strategy, plans and budgets under direction of CISO for specific locations/companies
• Perform staff management functions for direct reports, as assigned
As the ideal candidate you have
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 7 -- 10 years as an information technology practitioner or an I.S. audit function, with at least 5 years in a role related to information security
• Experience in risk assessment
• Excellent communication and successful negotiation skills
• Strong analytical ability with skilled decision making
• Proven leadership skills and are a self starter
• Ability to effectively manage change and stress
• A completed or working Information Security Certificate
• Knowledge of information security issues in major operating system platform, application development environment and security subsystems in use within Corporations: MVS, MS Windows, Solaris, HP-UX AIX, OS400, Checkpoint Firewall, Directory Services (AD/Tivoli), IDS/IPS, anti-virus, VPN, encryption, PKI, secure email, mobile computing, secure e-business systems etc
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory and legislated matter pertaining to information security would be an asset
• Experience in developing business cases, information security strategy, policy and standards development
