Description:
The Level 1 SOC Analyst is responsible for monitoring client networks for security alerts. Analyzes alerts in real time and determines which alerts need to be escalated to the client.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct first level monitoring of security logs and detection of security policy violations using security devices (e.g. CS-MARS, IPS/IDS, and Firewalls)
• Conduct incident handling, incident response and escalation management in a 24x7 environment
• Evaluate network communication process and its associated protocols in order to analyze network security vulnerabilities
• Submit monthly reports and network security assessment to the clients
• Assess and evaluate security incidents of different customer networks
• Provide support for network security issues and other key IT systems
• Fine-tune false positive incidents in order to improve the accuracy of detecting network security violations on customer's network
• Constantly communicate with the other support engineers via email and phone based on incidents received
• Manage and maintain security devices to ensure optimum performance (performing upgrades on software version, signatures and security patches)
• Develop new analytical approaches to network-data analysis
Qualifications:
• BS/BA Degree
• 1-2 years experience in Information Technology especially in the field of network security
• Knowledge and experience in Cisco Security Devices (CS-MARS, IPS/IDS, PIX/ASA firewalls, CSA, NAC)
• Knowledge of different network and system threats and experience in management of security related incidents
• Network and system certifications (CCNA, CCSP, Network +, GSEC, GCIA, MCSE, MCSA, MCP etc.) preferred
• Ability to work evening shift
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced, energetic environment
• Excellent computer skills (Windows, Linux/UNIX) and application skills (MS Office, Network Tools)
