SOFTWARE DEVELOPER II
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA
6 MONTHS CONTRACT TO HIRE
Designs, develops, analyses, debugs and maintains client's internal internet-related applications and technologies that meet user requirements. Develops specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and modifies/maintains the existing software. Develops, modifies and maintains applications that may be customized or standardized. Participates in design and coding activities with other staff members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Develops and maintains web based data collection systems.
2. Develops and maintains desktop data entry applications.
3. Develops and maintains real time data acquisition services and applications.
4. Develops and maintains real time data reporting application and framework.
5. Provides support to analysts and co-workers with application issues as needed.
6. Maintains company infoweb applications.
7. Reads, understands, and flushes out product requirements to be implemented.
8. Implements completed designs from product specifications.
9. Provides technical assistance to other software developers.
10. Provides training to employees on new skill sets as required.
11. Provides technical input and advice on implementation.
12. Completes system maintenance, system problem solving and product bug fixing.
13. Solves system and content issues.
14. Completes other assignments and tasks as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Education: BA or BS in Computer Science or related field and equivalent on-the-job experience.
Experience: Minimum two or more years experience in a Database Developer or Programming capacity or equivalent experience. Experience should include working with C, C++ or C#, Databases and SQL; markup languages such as HTML or XML; and Windows OS. Preferred experience should include JavaScript the .NET framework; ASP or ASP.NET; HTML and XSL. Extensive technical training in new and emerging development technologies.
Specific Skills: Technologies include Visual Basic, Active Server Pages, SQL, ASP.NET, C#, XSLT, XML and HTML. Experience utilizing project planning tools. Knowledge of SNL computer systems preferred. Knowledge of SNL data, applications and products.
Special knowledge, licenses, etc.: Good theoretical understanding of programming principles. Knowledge of relational database tables, Clipper, Xbase++, Visual Basic, C#, SQL and Microsoft Office.
Abilities: Excellent logic and troubleshooting skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical staff members. Strong organizational skills required to prioritize work and meet established deadlines. Ability to write procedures and documentation. Must be self-directed and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ability to interface well with IT staff and other non-technical members of the organization. Must be committed to exceptional customer service and support. Must possess strong problem analysis and decision-making ability. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
