JAVA SOFTWARE ENGINEER I


PURPOSE:

This position will work with the Development and other business units to develop and manage software development initiatives and related technical projects. Must be able to translate business needs into effective technical solutions and apply state of the art technologies. A candidate is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of developed systems and services that support the company's business objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop related applications to meet user requirements and according to design specifications.
2. Implement the components required for complex application features. These activities include coding, testing, debugging, and deployment to support application systems.
3. Assist in the preparation of detailed functional specifications, requirements analysis, design specifications, proposals, statements of work and work estimates.
4. Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
5. Research and implement technological improvements to streamline processes.
6. Effectively communicate between internal customers and various functional groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 1 - 3+ years experience programming web applications with database backend.
2. Must have working knowledge and theory of OO.
3. Must have good understanding of XML, SOAP, XML/RPC, XSLT, XSD.
4. For Java positions:
o Must have working knowledge of JSP and JSTL.
o Must have working knowledge of J2EE; JMS, EJB, JMX, and industry standard pattern implementation such as MVC2, DAO, Singleton, Session Façade, etc.
5. For Microsoft positions:
o Must have working knowledge of Microsoft .NET technologies (.NET Assemblies, ASP, C#, IIS, MSMQ, etc.).
o Must have solid understanding of .NET framework.
6. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills and a solid working knowledge of Project Life Cycle concepts.
7. Must have good analytical and effective problem solving skills.
8. Must have working knowledge of SQL, RDBMS, O/RM .
9. Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, CSS2 is a plus.
10. Must be able to manage assigned projects with normal supervision.

EDUCATION:

BS degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
