Search America, LLC is premiere executive search firm specializing in placing executives with internet and emerging technology companies throughout the US and the Caribbean. Currently we are searching for a VP of Architecture/Chief/Lead Internet Architect for one of our exclusive clients. Our Client is an established but still growing internet marketing company expanding at over 30% per year. They are funded by their own profits and are poised to quadruple in a few years with their expanding product lines. Current revenues exceed $300 million per year.
This position is a newly created one that is responsible for directing the design of new software products and/or product enhancements through software product development managers. This position reports directly to the CTO and will work closely with the CEO and Chief Product Officer to help architect the new applications. This is a VERY HANDS-ON POSITION where the person will architect new products side-by-side technology executives and other high-level architects. This is not a management position strictly overseeing other people.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Determines practicality of new software products and/or product enhancements.
- Serves as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information.
- Monitors product development from initiation and planning through completion.
- Works with other executives to plan and establish product goals and development strategies.
- Ensures software projects are completed and properly documented according to product specifications, time lines, and corporate quality standards.
- Collaborates with various programming and product groups within the company to ensure the required features and modifications are included in the appropriate releases to support cross-product features.
- Evaluates new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company products.
- Keeps informed of status of projects and makes recommendations as necessary.
- Keeps Senior Management informed of department progress and problems.
- Keeps informed of new developments, trends and recommends computer operation expansion or replacements based on current and projected activity.
- Other duties that are within education and experience or the incumbent may be assigned for the betterment of the company.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Experience in a LAMP environment is required.
- Proven experience in leading architecture design of high transaction web sites.
- Excellent knowledge of the company's objectives and strategies.
- Highest level of knowledge of software platforms and connections to and usage of Internet system.
- Proven team leadership and management skills.
- Proven record of building high performing teams.
- Proven experience managing multiple vendor relationships.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Project resource forecasting, hiring and expense estimation skills.
- Proven track record with hiring and managing outsourced testing activities.
- Proven history of thriving in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related engineering field is preferred. Advanced degree desired. Additionally, a minimum of 12 years experience managing Software Design and Development for an Internet Based Company or a company with a large internet presence. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years management experience is required.
