Emergent Game Technologies is seeking a Server Test Engineer for our flexible multi-genre online game server engine. Emergent Game Technologies is creating tools to accelerate development and production phases of game development for studios. At Emergent, we think we're on to something. We're a behind-the-scenes leader in game technology. Our code powers some really great games -- more than 100 titles have shipped or are in development using our technology. We get to work on the best games, but we aren't subject to the whims of publishers - so we don't work in a pressure cooker. Qualifications:
In the position, you will work directly with development teams to:
-Engage in full software testing using a variety and a mix of manual and automated techniques
-Develop and execute automated test harnesses, unit tests, and manual test tools
-Document testing strategies and methodologies that can be used by QA teams to verify product functionality
-Determine testing requirements and develop test plans after reviewing requirements, technical specifications, and limited documentation
-Provide direction and review of test plans and game-specific checklists for assigned projects, to ensure completeness and thoroughness
-Conduct impact analysis and regression testing of product changes
-Perform limited code review
-Provide services to ensure quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of testing effort
-Identify potential issues/constraints that may impact project success
-Prepare time estimates and schedules for testing tasks
-Report defects and/or problems to the appropriate contacts in a timely manner with as much detail oriented information as possible to facilitate diagnosis and resolution
-Analyze test results and propose expanded test processes
Valued Skills:
-B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
-Basic understanding of statistics and test theory
-3+ years C/C++ programming experience
-3+ years of QA engineering experience
-Expertise in C, C++, Python (including PIL, SendKeys, and Tkinter), Perl and TCL/Tk to write automated test tools and scripts
-Ability to write portable, reusable and distributable tests and test processes
-Comprehensive knowledge of software testing process, methodology, and QA practices
-Understands the software development life cycle
-Excellent working experience with hardware configuration verification and software release
-Extensive knowledge of communications, online services, internet, and all Windows and Linux operating systems
-Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to distill results into tabular form
-A high level of personal commitment to work and quality
-GUI automation experience
-Game console / PC development experience
-Previous game server or distributed systems experience preferred.
-MMO Player experience preferred.
-Developing Python / Perl modules using C/C++ libraries, XML, SOAP, Cygwin, script programming and SQL
-Knowledge of basic networking protocols
