We are looking for a looking for solid, hands-on software engineering professional with exceptional communication skills to work with a small development team in the design and implementation of software solutions for a research website visited by millions of users a day for a client in Ann Arbor.
Title: Lead Software Engineer
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Compensation: Base salary is open, though we are targeting $90-110,000. Client offers solid benefits package. Local candidates strongly preferred.
General: The Software Development Lead will be responsible for designing and implementing software solutions for a variety of ongoing projects in a fast paced and challenging environment.
Required Skills: A technical bachelors degree with 5+ years developing software systems and a working knowledge of the full life-cycle. 5+ years Object Oriented. 4+ years of programming web applications with Java, specifically servlets and JSP. Solid working knowledge of XML, XML Schema specifications, parsing, and transformation technologies. UNIX skills... Solaris and Linux in particular. Demonstrated success as a team lead, software architecture, or coaching of a small development team. Knowledge of RDBMS concepts, including JDBC, designing multi-level architectures and of web services and service oriented architectures. Experience with web portals, skinnable UIs, and-or web component architectures. Source control systems.
Pluses: CVS, Subversion. Knowledge of library systems, publishing systems and-or online delivery systems. Agile software development methods or other modern development methodologies such as XP and Scrum. open source packages such as Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, and Eclipse. IntelliJ IDE. Tomcat, WebSphere, and Resin application servers. Perl scripting. Ruby on Rails.
