DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Director, the Software Architect will perform a critical role in defining and driving the overall architectural vision of the product line working in collaboration with Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Data Architects, Software Engineers and other Software Architects. They will be participating in architectural design of the product while ensuring optimization of the application for ongoing and successful implementation.
• Develop long-term software architecture for company's product line.
• Develop architectural roadmap to realize long-term architectural vision.
• Adopt and develop architectural frameworks and standards, and evangelize to ensure full adherence and compliance.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies ensuring that company maintains competitive advantage.
• Educate, mentor and coach software engineers on emerging technologies, best practices and standards.
• Provide support and guidance for all legacy systems.
• Provide technical leadership for engineers
• Deliver high-quality code on schedule.
• Be flexible and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the team and the company succeeds.



QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a technically skilled professional that thrives in a fast-paced environment with a track record of success, and possesses a positive "can do" attitude. The individual must have the professionalism and communications skills necessary to effectively and successfully interface with key managers within the company. He/she will have a balance of leadership and technical skills relating to the successful implementation of required technologies. He/she will be one who has programmed and led teams (onshore/offshore) in the development of enterprise scale web-based and client-server solutions. Experience with the following is required:
• Defining forward looking architectures based on long-term business strategy, including defining the scope, boundaries, responsibilities and long-term objectives of these architectures.
• Defining technology roadmaps that over a period evolves the technology, taking into account the business priorities and technological realities.
• Documenting the existing architectures based on **as-is** technological realities.
• Defining and documenting architecture designs using architecture patterns and architecture views.
• Designing enterprise product features, such as high availability, scalability, security, manageability, data & human integration.
• All aspects of software engineering process and familiarity with alternative approaches to it.
• Incorporating architecture best practices as part of Software Development Lifecycle.
• Defining and promoting hardware and software standards, processes and best practices.
• Code reuse, OOA/OOD, and technology evaluation and selection.
• Windows or Unix/Linux platforms, .NET (C# or VB.NET), Java, C++, ASP or VB6, SQL Server or Sybase, XML, Web Services and SOA, designing using UML and design patterns.
• Experience developing or architecting solutions for the broadcast media market a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study, graduate degree preferred.
• Professional certifications, such as MCPD preferred.
• 8+ years significant hands-on experience with full-cycle software development projects in a software company.
• 5+ years experience architecting enterprise software products.
• Recent experience in a technical lead role on large-scale projects.
• Ability to understand long-term business strategy and ability to capture the aspects of business strategy that has significant technology implications.
• Ability to use seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize customer needs, business constraints and technological realities.
• Ability to clearly document and communicate objectives, requirements and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work with senior engineers to ensure their high level designs and implementations conform to the architecture designs, scope and boundaries.
• Ability to quickly and reasonably estimate capital, schedule and human resource costs of proposed objectives.
• Ability to compare, contrast and prioritize among alternative approaches to meet those objectives.
• Able to comfortably move across strategy, implementation, and support; including business strategy, product strategy, high-level technical design, detailed technical design, implementation and production support.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Strong communication, organization and inter-personal skills are essential.
• Ability to motivate and challenge development team members.
• Ability to work in tight deadline, high-pressure situations in a fast-paced, growing environment.
