The Technical Architect is a technology strategist and problem solver within frog design. He/she works closely throughout the project lifecycle with Business Development Directors, Creative Directors, Program/Solution Managers, and Technology Directors. A Technical Architect is a highly matrixed role responsible for responsible for software application architecture, use case discovery, and the recommendation of appropriate technology platforms/tools/practices. He/she evaluates deliverables to ensure that they meet established requirements and regularly authors and maintains design documents, database/schema models, software requirements specifications, and software architecture documents. In addition, the Technical Architect frequently leverages their creativity and technical savvy to guide proposals and client discussions to assist with business development efforts (within their own as well as other frog studios). He/she is also expected to define and document best practices and contribute to company-wide knowledge sharing efforts.
To be considered, candidates must demonstrate leadership experience at or above the Senior Software Developer level and have professional experience delivering a commercial release in at least two of the following domains:
• Desktop, Rich Internet/Platform, or Web Applications in Microsoft .NET 3.x (WPF/XAML), Microsoft Silverlight, Qt Desktop, Adobe Flash/Flex/AIR, (X)HTML/CSS/JavaScript, or AJAX
• Mobile Applications in Qualcomm uiOne, BREW, Symbian (UIQ or Nokia Series 60), Microsoft Windows Mobile, Flash Lite, or Android
• Distributed N-Tier Applications Or Services in Microsoft .NET, LAMP, or J2EE
• Consumer or Embedded Devices
• Hardware/Software Convergence
• Enterprise Data Modeling
• UML Sequence, Object, and System Modeling
Experience with distributed systems, object-oriented design, data modeling, and taking projects through an entire software release lifecycle is required. Ideal candidates will also have a portfolio of their recent work history showcasing successful software releases and/or enterprise deployments with content aggregation, content management systems, recommendation/search engines, globalization, or accessibility.
Role:
• Determine the technology capabilities and needs of the client's organization
• Analyze available technologies for relevancy to the client/project
• Develop a technical strategy for a client's business
• Provide thought leadership and the technology-related vision
• Advise clients on technology decisions
• Lead technology solutions from concept to design using techniques like UML diagramming
• Assist management with proposals and client meetings
• Write and speak convincingly about technology platforms and solution architectures in pre-sales and project meetings
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of professional experience designing and developing software applications with a rich presentation layer on a variety of technology platforms
• Expertise in preparing and delivering proposals and presentations to all levels of a client's organization (including executives)
• Detailed architecture and design-level knowledge of at least two of the technologies listed above
• Convincingly generate substantiated strategic technology and architecture recommendations
• Strong leadership/communication skills and a willingness to mentor Design Technologists and Software Developers
• Ability to lead tasks throughout the project lifecycle, serve as the primary technical contact with clients and third-parties, participate in project scoping and estimation tasks, and provide architecture, solution, and/or services recommendations
• Willingness to define and document best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing efforts
• Bachelor's degree in the sciences, engineering, or a creative discipline is required (a master's degree is preferred)
