Major education union seeks a Web consultant to oversee the union's redesign of its Web site. Responsible for evaluating responses to the union's RFI, assisting with CMS selection and integration, drafting the union's subsequent RFP, developing the new site's information architecture and navigation system to optimize usability, creating wire frames (site diagrams and user interface schematics) and being a key liaison with the vendor we choose to implement the site's redesign.
Working under the direction of the union's Director of Internal Communications, the consultant will work closely with the union's Web communications team, its graphics department and its IS department to make sure the redesign reflects the union's Web needs, that user testing is conducted at key intervals, and that the project progresses at a timely pace and within budget.
We envision the consulting work to extend for at least one year, with hours per week varying depending on the phase of the project.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Proven experience in leading architecture design of medium-sized or large Web sites
• Knowledge of Rich Internet Applications using the latest Web 2.0 technologies.
• Knowledge of multiple CMS systems; familiarity with Krang and Drupal a plus
• Involvement with designing sites that have interaction with mainframe or similar systems.
• Knowledge of HTML, SEO and Google Analytics
• Familiarity with CSS, Java, JavaScript, XML, Perl, Ajax, DNS, SMTP, UML, PHP, Apache, Subversion, MySQL, and database schema design.
• Proven project management skills
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to acquiring a thorough knowledge of the union's services and priorities
