Project Background
The client is initiating this Work Request for an IBM network systems specialist, with knowledge and skills in VTAM and NCP configurations in an IBM Z900 and Z9 mainframe, and IBM 3745 front-end processor environment, for a period of time, who will perform the duties set out in this Work Order, including knowledge transfer to client's staff.
3. Project Scope of Work and Knowledge Transfer
Need Consultants who will provide expert technical support, administration and consulting for IBM mainframe and FEP network configurations and migration of SNA connections to IP based solutions.Who will:
· Provide primary technical support for VTAM, NCP, NETVIEW, TCP, Communicatons Server (FTP and SMTP), OSA, and Enterprise Extender configurations for three (3) IBM mainframes (z900 and z9), and two IBM 3745 front-end processors.
· Use advanced technical skills to provide after hours operational support to DIS Service Desk to troubleshoot and resolve IBM network issues involving VTAM, NCP, NETVIEW, TCP, FTP, SMTP, OSA, and Enterprise Extender components.
· Use expertise and skills to analyze, design, and implement IP based solutions for two (2) IBM 3745 front-end processor SNA connections.
· Use expertise and skills to analyze, design and implement OSA based solution for three Cisco CIP routers.
· Use advanced technical skills and knowledge gained from product(s) usage, training and job experience to provide coordination and project assistance, as a subject matter expert, for IBM mainframe and network projects.
· Share knowledge of VTAM, NCP, NETVIEW, TCP, Communications Server (FTP and SMTP), OSA, and Enterprise Extender systems and configurations with DIS employee(s).
1. Proposed Candidate Qualifications (40 Points)
1.1. Mandatory Experience and Qualifications
a) 3-5 years experience with VTAM, NCP, and NETVIEW administration/configuration and support.
b) 3-5 years experience with designing, implementing, OSA, Enterprise Extender, and TCP configurations.
c) 2-4 years experience with supporting IBM mainframe environments.
d) 2-4 years experience with Cisco CIP router ESCON connections.
1.2. Desirable Experience and Qualifications
a) Experience with implementation of complex, mission-critical applications.
b) Experience with administration and support of complex enterprise applications.
c) Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
d) Ability to communicate technical requirements with team members and to translate these into business options for management presentation.
e) Ability to communicate technical procedures to customer IT staff in configuration and trouble-shooting activities.
f) Ability to respond to inquiries in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
g) Experience with Microsoft Project and VISIO.
h) Experience with the application development lifecycle migration from test, development, quality assurance, pre-production and production environments.
i) Experience with knowledge transfer in similar technical positions
j) Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in computer science, or related field.
k) Familiarity with DIS' IBM and Cisco network infrastructure and core services.
l) Knowledge of the state's standards and guidelines.
