As a Database Administrator you will:
- Work closely with senior developers and logical data modelers to design physical databases for complex business applications with large numbers of interfaces and users.
- Perform database administration for mainframe and server databases, including installations, upgrades, configurations and patch applications.
- Resolve complex database problems, particularly database and SQL performance issues.
- Monitor, optimize and support developers in creation of databases, tables, and indexes.
- Build backup and recovery jobs.
- Recommend implementation technology to developers.
- Review application designs for compliance with production acceptance requirements.
- Train and mentor staff.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Five years of DBA experience.
- Advanced knowledge of DBA practices and concepts: Data sharing in a parallel sysplex environment; data replication; database monitoring, optimizing, and maintenance; and database log and bug list analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of one or more IT platforms: Client/server, Microsoft Windows 2003, UNIX.
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
