Oracle Applications Data Base Administrator
General Position Summary:
The Senior Oracle R12 Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining the worldwide production Oracle database applications environments. This individual provides consultation on performance, patch management, configuration management, custom interface design and implementation, application support, and assistance with system administration functionality as it pertains to the Oracle database environment.
Internal Control Responsibilities:
Support Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures and controls to better match the business.
Communicate upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
Job Scope:
This individual will be responsible for monitoring growth, fragmentation, performance, and security concerns of the production database environment, ensuring database backup and recovery and disaster recovery preparedness. This role requires an individual with confidence and the capability to enable and inspire the DBA and Technical teams to produce optimum services for multiple company customer base.
Essential Functions:
• Interfaces directly with enterprise wide internal customers and their applications development teams to implement appropriate database technologies and methodologies.
• Installation, customization, administration, and patching of Oracle applications.
• Capacity planning, performance tuning of customer databases and applications.
• Responds to customer related RDBMS problems and inquiries.
• Provides production technical support for database technologies on a 7x24x365 basis. Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining database software, patches, upgrades, and utilities.
• Interfaces directly with the Linux Systems Administration group on a technical level.
• Interfaces directly with the applications teams on SQL, PL/SQL, shell scripting, packages, triggers, and procedures. Ensures project, lifecycle, and business disciplines are used and maintained.
• Provides direction and quality control around projects and activities of all sizes, promoting adherence to corporate standards. Contributes significantly to the optimization and effectiveness of this critical service area.
Marginal Functions:
• Participate in the recruiting, interview and hiring of additional technical staff
• Development of code standards in conjunction with other IT staff
• Participate in discussions to provide expert technical systems process knowledge.
Qualifications:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field as well as 7+ years experience in a complex UNIX environment on H/Linux or Sun Solaris OS with UNIX (ksh) scripting.
• 7+ years experience with Oracle 8.x through 10.x databases and Oracle 10.x through 12.x applications, including iAS.
• 2+ years experience with SQL server desired.
• 2+ years experience as Senior Applications DBA.
• Strong sql and sqlplus; perl scripting skills desired.
• Proven ability to lead large integration, conversion, and implementation projects
• Proven ability to work within defined standards and to develop and communicate those standards.
• Ability to work and communicate well with a diverse audience.
• Proven experience with Oracle RMAN and Veritas NetBackup.
