Our client is actively seeking a Senior UNIX/LINUX Systems Administrator to join their Information Technology team. Responsibilities involve performing monitoring, maintenance, administration, installations and configurations of Client's UNIX based systems and SAN environment.
SENIOR UNIX/LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL DO
This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Tech Services and is responsible for the UNIX and Linux systems. The team member is expected to interact with all levels throughout the company to implement and maintain technical solutions in support of business objectives.
Work Activities:
• Detect, diagnose, and report UNIX and Linux related problems.
• Implement and support Oracle RAC on a Linux Red Hat environment.
• Responsible for designing, maintaining and troubleshooting Unix/Linux based systems and Network Storage devices along with backup systems and software.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for application, OS and Hardware related issues.
• Ensure system availability and backups are maintained in accordance to SLAs
• Lead projects related to complex system implementation and enhancements.
• Work closely with Technical Services Manager to provide on time delivery of projects and tasks.
• Document processes, participate in meetings and provide on time weekly reports.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 4 year Degree in a computer related field or additional work experience may be substituted for education requirement
• Must have In-depth knowledge of implementing and supporting Oracle RAC.
• 3+ years of experience supporting UNIX (preferably Solaris 8, 9 and 10) and Linux based systems (preferably Red Hat) in a data center environment.
• Advanced knowledge of HP and Sun hardware
• Working knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Perl, Bash, Korn, Shell)
• Working knowledge of NetBackup
• Must have a high degree of professionalism and a demonstrated enthusiastic attitude
• Must be able to work independently, quickly comprehend new technologies, and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently
• Must possess superior customer service skills, as well as excellent verbal and written skills
