You will be acting as a technical resource for multiple new venture or focus team efforts. As a core contributor to the New Application Team, you must be able to work as needed completely independently from core business units, but also must be able to work cooperatively and cross-functionally. Specifically, expect high involvement with and responsiveness to our client's sales organization. This role can be described as having flexible scope, and will provide the opportunity to work on many projects in many different areas of focus.
The technical development capabilities of the team will include:
Application software development, emphasis on new task development, script level programming, host communication and systems integration with a variety of third-party applications that drive the business logic of customer systems.
Field application engineering -- developing technical requirements, installations, field training, and customer technical liaison.
Product software development -- application software architecture including embedded (appliance), PC application, web, task, etc. code.
The Lead Engineer will lead the New Applications Team and will be responsible for defining the technical architecture of new product prototypes, leading the developing of prototypes and deploying prototypes with early adopters in the market. In addition, the Lead Engineer will be required to develop new applications on existing platforms that may be proof-of-concepts, prototypes, demos, or first-generation fielded applications. The Lead Engineer will work solo or collectively as part of ad hoc initiatives with specific market focus.
The Lead Engineer must be able to develop or learn to develop tasks, and ideally can support all three technical roles at some level.
Position Responsibilities:
· Design and develop proof-of-concepts, demos, pilots, and field new applications employing existing and prototype platforms.
· Technical liaison for development of such systems with customer personnel.
· Field support of such systems.
· Pre-sales support of sales and business development personnel.
· Intermittent travel (up to 25%). Travel on short notice.
· Appropriate documentation generation.
· Document intellectual property and generate patent disclosures.
Requirements
BS degree in technical discipline (EE, CS) or equivalent experience required.
Eight or more years executing small to mid-size technical projects.
Three or more years leading, managing or coordinating technical teams.
Ability to operate at several levels from small application changes on existing platforms to designing the architecture of entirely new platforms.
Hands-on experience in mobile software task development (preferably voice-based) and web application development.
Experience delivering results in early stage application development environments or any entrepreneurial experience a plus.
Two or more years in a customer-facing role such as customer support, technical field support or other relevant professional services activities a plus.
