As a Senior Software Engineer, primary responsibilities include development of proprietary systems to support our accounting, back office and finance teams in an Agile environment using strong object oriented design skills, Java Ruby and relational database technologies. This is a hands-on development position in a fast-paced environment that provides a great opportunity to work closely with analysts and strategists as well as learn about the multi-asset management business and many types of financial products.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the full software lifecycle for the development of internal applications supporting our accounting, back office and finance initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with a highly technical, senior team of developers to continue to solve complex problems, recommend business solutions and introduce best practices.
• Duties will include: drive object-oriented analysis/design/development and ensure timely delivery of quality solutions with a strong focus on user experience design and development.
• High level of interaction with end users to identify and gather business requirements, translate functional specifications into technical design and develop new interfaces using Java and Ruby technology.
Required Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, related field or requisite experience required.
• At least 4 years of experience with object oriented technologies, primarily Java or Ruby required (C/C++, C#, Perl are helpful).
• Knowledge of and proficiency with Spring, Hibernate or MVC Web frameworks is desirable.
• Experience with Agile development or Extreme programming.
• Due to high level of interaction with end users and necessity of identifying and gathering business requirements, strong verbal and written communications skills required.
• Strong problem solving abilities, highly analytical, self-motivated, willing and able to work within a small group, as well as independently.
• Prior experience in the finance or investments industry a plus.
